Bilaj Al Jazayer takes great pride in its unwavering dedication to sustainability, ensuring that its progress and operations seamlessly integrate with the natural environment. Our aim is to enhance urban spaces not only in terms of productivity and economic prosperity but also in enriching our collective quality of life.

By adopting a strategic approach, we can forge ahead in creating a future city that not only serves as an economic powerhouse but also becomes a delightful habitat to dwell in. Reflecting on the core of Bahrain, Manama, hailed as a "Smart City," demonstrates its commitment through endeavors to enhance sustainability facets like transportation and accessibility.

Leveraging technology, we envision achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals our nation has pledged to uphold. Furthermore, we are steadfast in realizing our Economic Vision 2030, ensuring our cities foster growth and advancement, thereby ensuring a superior quality of life for every Bahraini citizen and resident.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND
ECO-FRIENDLY MEASURES:

Our landscape concept focuses on green, shaded, and liveable spaces that blend seamlessly with the local environment. From native planting to water channels and green spines, our design celebrates Bahrain's unique ecosystem. We've introduced green buffers to separate service corridors from residential areas, providing not only visual amenity but ecological benefits as well.

Trees and shrubs play a vital role, offering layers of shade, texture, and colour. We've carefully selected native and drought-tolerant species to minimize maintenance. Ornamental grasses add sensory interest, creating a harmonious blend of nature and modernity.

MODULAR DESIGN

To minimize wastage in construction, we've adopted modular designs that are prefabricated offsite, reducing material usage and promoting efficient construction practices.

Our design places a strong emphasis on minimizing energy demand and optimizing renewable energy installations to offset carbon impact. By focusing on glazing location and minimization, shading approaches, daylight optimization, thermal envelopes, and photovoltaic installations, we've taken significant steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

CLIMATE CONTROL

WATER RECYCLING

We've implemented water recycling facilities to maximize resource efficiency. Treated wastewater will be reused for irrigation, reducing water wastage and contributing to the sustainable management of this precious resource.

RECYCLING AND CONSERVATION

Throughout the project, we've utilized sustainable materials with low embodied carbon, and recycled and reused materials, and locally sourced materials. In line with sustainable production and extraction processes, we've opted for highly durable and low-maintenance materials, making repairs and replacements more straightforward.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY FEATURES

Our development includes a range of eco-friendly features such as bicycle and walking routes, e-Bus spine, driverless shuttle, mobility on-demand points, water and energy-efficient buildings, rooftop photovoltaic cells, potential for off-site photovoltaic farms, highway pollution buffers, and courtyard community food growing.

PEOPLE COME FIRST

PEOPLE COME FIRST

One of the fundamental principles of this project is giving the streets back to the people. Instead of allowing vehicles to dominate, the layout is designed to prioritize pedestrian safety while simultaneously reducing transport related carbon emissions.
